Response: Russian Invasion of Ukraine

Issue Detail- The Russian invasion of Ukraine, including alleged cyberattacks impacting the Ukrainian financial sector, has resulted in multiple government cybersecurity agencies releasing notices to the U.S. and global financial sector to strengthen cyber defenses in anticipation of broader cyberattacks.

MicroBilt Impact- MicroBilt has maintained a small analytics team in Ukraine.  Since the Russian invasion began, we have migrated such functions to US analytics management.

MicroBilt Response- MicroBiltis monitoring the situation and, where appropriate, taking action on the advice from government cybersecurity agencies and private intelligence vendors. This includes preparing for elevated risk of distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, increasing monitoring for anomalous activity, and responding to indicators of compromise (IoCs) provided by our intelligence partners.

MicroBilt also implements controls that prevent high-risk countries and network addresses from accessing MicroBilt computing resources. The MicroBilt Vendor Risk Management program has surveyed our vendors & important third-party relationships. MicroBilt has no active vendors in Ukraine and is not aware of any third-party relationship that has experienced any adverse effect on service levels as a result of the current conflict. MicroBilt has reviewed “Shields Up” recommendations from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).

What Should You Do- MicroBilt recommends that clients follow the guidance provided by government cybersecurity agencies to ensure that their systems are hardened, they have robust 24x7x365 security monitoring in place, and their incident response plans are documented and tested.
